Pros and Cons of Renting in Amityville.

Living in New York can be awesome, and if you’re searching for Long Island apartments in Amityville, you’re making a great choice. Oof course, as with every location, it has its pros and cons, but you’ll see there is a lot to discover in this exciting neighborhood.

Contrary to what many people think, in Amityville, you can find the home of your dreams in a green area, surrounded by beautiful town houses and buildings.

For those who’d like to learn more about Amityville, it’s a village located in the town of Babylon in Suffolk County.

You can search for apartments for rent in Long Island New York with the exact amenities you need.

There are also many activities you can enjoy in this area. In Suffolk County, you can enjoy the beach and the sun, go shopping at the best outlet malls, buy original furniture and beautiful crafts. You can also practice sports like golf and enjoy other outdoor activities. Without any doubt, if you’re searching for Long Island New York apartments for rent, Amityville is a great choice.

Okay, but what about the cons?

If you’re searching for apartments for rent in Long Island New York, one of the cons you will find is the price.

Life in Amityville comes with a high cost of living that not everyone can afford… especially if you’re planning to send your children to school, where education is not cheap at all.

On the other hand, it is near NYC, which can be a pro or a con, depending on if you want to live near or far from this frenzied city.

And for those who are superstitious, don’t forget that Amityville is famous for its horror house where, in 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot six members of his family.

After that tragic incident, many movies were made between 1979 and 2015, turning this area into an attraction for movie lovers and the curious.

But if you’re afraid of ghosts and paranormal experiences, maybe you should look for another place to live

How Do I Organize my 1 Bedroom Apartment in Tribeca?

Available now are plenty of 1 bedroom apartments for sale in Tribeca. I recently bought a 1 bedroom apartment for sale in Tribeca, but it is very small. I had to come up with some ways to organize and create more living and storage space in my apartment in Tribeca.

Before I even moved in, I got online and looked at some DIY websites on creating space. Pinterest has tons of great ideas. And I’m lucky I have a friend that’s an expert with power tools and can help me knock this stuff together in no time.

I found some great stores in Manhattan with inexpensive space saving items. First there’s Crate and Barrel at 611 Broadway and on the higher end of the pricing scale. Then, of course, there’s IKEA at 455 Broadway with their functional, put-it-together-yourself furniture. Both Crate and Barrel and IKEA can be ordered and delivered for your convenience.

If you feel like shopping for your space saving items, try Marshalls at 206 Washington Street. Marshalls doesn’t stock a consistent inventory. It’s a hit or miss place but the finds are fabulous and the prices very reasonable.

I also found this local home furnishings store in Tribeca called Steven Alan Home Shop at 158 Franklin that focuses on decorating and entertaining furnishings. Designer Steven Alan is known in the fashion industry and this is his debut boutique.

Darling shop and a must see. And even though you may not be able to afford the prices, it will give you some wonderful ideas for your apartment in Tribeca.

In my kitchen, there was some empty space between the wall and the refrigerator…about a foot wide. It now features a rolling shelf as high as the refrigerator and gives me all kinds of pantry type storage space.

In my bedroom, the bed is lifted high enough to create storage space for totes I purchased at IKEA.

And in my living room, there’s a niche that has been transformed into a work space for my computer. It’s where I’m sitting right now. I found 2 black open shelves at Target and found a glass table top at a thrift store to create a desk to work at while creating storage space. I also added wall shelves above the desk giving me plenty of space for photos.

Probably the 3 Most Beautiful High Rise Apartment Buildings in New York

Beautiful High-Rise Luxury Midtown West Apartments in NYCEverybody will have their opinions on the most beautiful high rise apartment buildings in New York City, but after careful research, these are my top three.

  1. Walker Tower – Picture this – it’s 1929 and the New York Times just printed architect, Ralph Thomas Walker was the “Architect of the Century” on the completion of Walker Tower. This 24-story, art deco building towers at 212 West 18th Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues in Chelsea, and was converted to 50 luxury residential units. Walker Tower’s elaborate brick façade has been painstakingly restored and the art deco ornamentation proudly replaced. JDS Real Estate Development Group and Property Markets Group were responsible for the iconic restoration of Walker Tower in 2012.
  2. 56 Leonard Street – Known as the “Jenga” building, 56 Leonard Street in Tribeca, is a 60-story expression of sculpted surfaces and sparkling glass designed by Swiss firm Herzog & De Meuron. A careful investigation of local construction methods revealed the possibility of shifting and varying floor-slabs to create corners, cantilevers, and balconies – all welcome strategies for providing individual and different conditions in each apartment. 56 Leonard Street offers 145 spatially innovative apartments and no two floor plans are the same, giving those who will live in the “Jenga” tower their own unique home. Amenity Floor 9 at 56 Leonard features a host of recreational amenities such as a library lounge and children’s playroom. Amenity Floor 10 contains 56 Leonard’s extensive fitness center with yoga studio, treatment room, steam room and sauna.
  3. Via 57 West – These luxury Midtown West apartments in NYC are in an asymmetrical building shaped like a Tetrahedron (triangular pyramid). Via 57 West is known as the Pyramid of Manhattan and takes on different shapes when you look at it from different angles – a pyramid, a sailboat, a wave, etc. and is a splendid new addition to the New York City skyline. Situated at 625 West 57th Street on the waterfront, Via 57 West has nothing to block the view of the Hudson River as it reflects off the 35-story, blue mirrored glass tower. To view a list of the unit available at Via 57 West, you can visit their website.

I hope you enjoyed my three picks for the most beautiful high rise apartment buildings in New York City.

Talk About the Big Ones!

The Most Expensive Townhouse Sold in NY is not a Midtown Luxury Apartment In April 2017, the most expensive townhouse ever sold in New York City was a 3-story, Depression-era, 25,000 square foot limestone-clad mansion at 19 East 64th Street. For nearly a century, the building housed the Wildenstein Family art collection. The Beaux Arts-style building sold for a record $79.5 million, making it the most ever paid for a New York City townhouse.

In Bel Air, California, the most expensive house in the nation is on the market for $250 million. Bruce Makowsky is an ultra-wealthy American real estate developer and entrepreneur. Makowsky set the record for the most expensive home listed in the United States earlier this year. Mr. Makowsky’s 38,000 square foot high-tech palace includes an 85 foot long, glassed, tiled infinity pool that overlooks Los Angeles. At the edge of the pool is a 20 foot 4K resolution television with 16 underground speakers. A seven person staff is supplied for 2 years including a chef, a chauffeur and a masseuse.

The most expensive land purchase happened in Hong Kong just last month. The rare plot of land in Hong Kong’s bustling Central District came with a $3 billion price tag. It was the first premium commercial lot to come up in the Central District since 1996. Hong Kong’s second richest man, Lee Shau-kee is now owner of the 31,000 square foot plot. Central District is home to the world’s highest priced office market, and ahead of Beijing’s Finance Street, London’s West End and Midtown Manhattan in New York.

Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village covers 80 acres of Manhattan, making it New York City’s largest apartment complex. The urban renewal parcel was built as a private residential development with a priority to returning veterans from World War II. In 2015, Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village was sold for a whopping $5.45 billion and 5,000 units are reserved as affordable housing for 20 years. All the units have since been remodeled and feature blonde wood parquet floors, GE appliances including dishwashers, most utilities are included, over-sized master bedrooms, and in-building laundry. Amenities at Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village include a cafe, gym, bike storage, children’s play area, and lots of outdoor space, like the central fountain, playgrounds, and open lawns.  Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village may not be able to compete with those new Midtown luxury apartments. But, I’ll betcha Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper can compete with some of the Midtown Manhattan apartments or even some Midtown West apartment rentals, though!
